Welcome to The Netherlands!
See below for how to get to the venue by train or car and our perfect day in Amsterdam!
Our Perfect Day in Amsterdam:
Start your morning in the Jordaan neighborhood…
Grace works in this neighborhood, and it’s a perfect place to start the day! Stroll through Noordermarkt, walk past the Anne Frank Huis, and wander the canals to see the beautiful houses and house boats on the Prinsengracht. Grab a coffee and cinnamon bun from Grace’s favorite cafe, NU koffie & delicatessen.
Take a tram to Mueseumplein for some art and history…
From Westermarkt, take the tram to Museumplein and enjoy one of the amazing museums! Our favorite is the Van Gogh Museum, but the Rijksmuseum is also classic with a variety of exhibits. Grab lunch here at a museum cafe, or one of the various food stalls near the museums.
Spend the afternoon on the canals…
Take a canal boat around the city on our favorite tour with Flagship Amsterdam: the Luxury Canal Boat Cruise with Drinks and Cheese! We’ve done this tour twice, and the drinks and cheese are truly unlimited! The guides are funny and informational, and it’s the perfect way to see the city from the water.
Taking the train to the venue?
We made a little video for how to purchase train tickets day of to get to the venue! Watch the video on the right and follow along with instructions below:
Download the NS App to your Phone
Open up the NS app
Choose your starting station (Ex. “Amsterdam Centraal”)
Choose your final station to be “Zutphen” with the train logo next to it and “Station” underneath
Click on the “Arrival” section underneath, and select “Now” to show the current train time tables. You can also use this section to plan your trip in advance by selecting what time you would like to depart or arrive, and see train times based on those settings.
Click “Plan your journey”
Decide which train you would like to take. You can see the available times and how long the trip is, along with how many transfers the journey will be. It’s best to choose a journey that has 2-3 transfers, and mostly includes “Intercity” trains or “Sprinter” trains.
Click on the journey you would like to take. When you click into the journey you can see the platforms and transfers in more detail too!
Scroll down and click “Order train ticket”
You should purchase a “Single” ticket because you will not be returning within the same day. “2nd class” is also perfectly fine, 1st class does not have any extra amenities.
Add the right amount of people to your party at the bottom. Then click “Order”.
Add in your email, and the initials and last names of people in your party. Then click “Review and pay”.
Confirm your Order Summary, and then choose your payment method. Click “Pay” and complete payment in the separate browser window!
Once you’ve purchased your tickets, you can find them on the app by clicking “More” on the bottom right hand of the app, and then clicking “My Tickets”
Notes on Taking the Train:
The tickets you purchase are not attached to those specific trains or times, they are only purchased for the route. If you decide to take a later/different train, your tickets will still be valid within the same day.
Your ticket will only be valid for the types of transportation purchased though, and does not include Metros or Arriva Stoptreins (unless that is what was purchased). Intercity Directs are also slightly more expensive, so best just to choose a route with “Intercity” or “Sprinter” trains.
Sit wherever you want, within your travel class! There are no assigned seats. Blue seats are 2nd class, red seats are 1st class.
Please be mindful of your luggage, you can place your luggage above the seats in the rack during travel.
They may ask you to show your tickets while on board, you can pull up your tickets in the app and they can scan all of your tickets for your party from there.
Please text Camden Korsmo (phone number in 1 month away email) your expected arrival time, and we’ll make sure there are cars ready to pick you up from Zutphen Station.
Check in starts at 2pm, and the BBQ starts at 6pm, so best to arrive with enough time to get ready and relax before dinner. Can’t wait to see you there!
Driving to the venue?
If you’re driving the to venue, here’s some notes for your trip!
The address of the venue is: Eerbeekseweg 6, 6971 LB Brummen. Free parking is available on property.
From Amsterdam, you’ll take the A1 or the A12 highway east for about 1 hour before exiting off the highway and driving around 20 more minutes to the venue.
For best routes, we recommend using Google Maps or your favorite GPS app.
If it’s your first time driving in the Netherlands, we caution you to drive the speed limit (Dutchies invented speed cameras!), only pass other cards on the left side (it’s illegal to pass on the right), and remember that in most cases the cars coming onto the road from your right have the right of way at intersections.
